    Hydrogenated Castor Oil (Castor Wax)

    Hydrogenated Castor Oil (Castor Wax)

    Specifications

Hydrogenated Castor Oil, also known as Castor Wax, is derived from castor seeds (Scientific name: Ricinus communis) by hydrogenating castor oil into a hard, brittle wax. Rich in hydroxyl fatty acids, it is insoluble in water but highly stable, with a melting point around 80–85°C. Castor wax is widely used in cosmetics (lipsticks, ointments), pharmaceuticals, coatings, adhesives, and lubricants, providing gloss, thickening, and resistance. Historically, castor oil was used in ancient Egypt for medicine and lamps, with hydrogenated forms developed in the 20th century for industrial use. Interesting fact: hydrogenated castor oil is unique among natural waxes for its hydroxyl functionality, making it indispensable in specialty chemical formulations.
