Palm Kernel Fatty Acid Distillate (PKFAD)

Specifications
Palm Kernel Fatty Acid Distillate (PKFAD) is a by‑product of palm kernel oil refining (Elaeis guineensis), obtained during the deodorization stage. It is rich in lauric and myristic acids, along with minor amounts of oleic and palmitic acids, tocopherols, and sterols. PKFAD is widely used in soap manufacturing, animal feed formulations, and oleochemical production, where its fatty acid profile makes it ideal for producing surfactants, detergents, and emulsifiers. It is also explored as a feedstock for biodiesel due to its cost‑effectiveness and renewable origin. Historically, PKFAD gained commercial importance as palm kernel oil processing expanded in Southeast Asia and West Africa. Interesting fact: PKFAD’s high lauric acid content gives it natural antimicrobial properties, making it valuable in specialty soap and personal care formulations.
