    Palm Stearic Acid

    Palm Stearic Acid

    Specifications

Palm Stearic Acid is a saturated fatty acid (C₁₈H₃₆O₂) derived from palm oil through hydrolysis and fractionation. It appears as a white, waxy solid with a mild odor and is one of the most common fatty acids used in industrial and consumer products. Stearic acid is a key ingredient in soap, candle, cosmetic, rubber, and plastic manufacturing. In cosmetics, it acts as an emulsifier, thickener, and stabilizer. In rubber production, it serves as a processing aid and vulcanization activator. It is also used in the production of stearates (calcium, zinc, magnesium), which are important in PVC stabilizers, lubricants, and pharmaceutical tablet manufacturing. Palm‑derived stearic acid is preferred for its consistent quality, high purity, and sustainable sourcing when certified under RSPO. Interesting fact: stearic acid gets its name from the Greek word “stear,” meaning tallow, reflecting its historical extraction from animal fats before plant‑based sources became dominant. It is also the main component that gives candles their firmness and prevents dripping.
