Microcrystalline Wax 170S (76–85°C) – Industrial Waxes & Oleochemicals product from Bio Green Wax

    About This Product

Microcrystalline Wax 170S is a petroleum wax composed of highly isomeric hydrocarbons, graded by a melting point of 76–85 °C measured under ASTM D-127. Its specification allows up to 5 wt% oil by ASTM D-721, and ASTM D-1500 colour carries both a lower and an upper bound, 0.5 and 2.5. Specific gravity, taken at 15/4 °C under ASTM D-1298, is held to 0.84–0.87, while the ASTM D-92 flash point has a floor of 200 °C. Two properties are left open by the grade limits: needle penetration (ASTM D-1321, 1/10 mm) and kinematic viscosity (ASTM D-445, mm²/s). Measured values for both appear on the batch certificate of analysis rather than being held to a limit, so a buyer who needs a fixed hardness or viscosity window should raise it when enquiring. Where this melting band suits the process, the grade can fill the familiar microcrystalline roles: flexibility and grip to glass and moulds in candle blends, rubber and tyre compounds, adhesives and laminating, creams and cosmetic products, casting work and corrosion protection. Three documents need confirming for 170S before supply: its current specification, the safety data sheet that covers this wax, and the batch's own certificate of analysis. Of the two certificates on this page, only one carries the limits listed above, so name the governing document when ordering. Packaging and physical form are settled with the order. The 76–85 °C interval is a specification limit rather than a measured result, and fitness for any product or regulated use is for the buyer to establish.
