    Osmanthus Floral Wax

Osmanthus Floral Wax – Candle & home fragrance product from Bio Green Wax

    About This Product

Osmanthus floral wax is a by-product of one of the most expensive materials in natural perfumery. The tiny flowers of Osmanthus fragrans, grown chiefly in Guilin in southern China, are solvent-extracted to a concrete; washing that concrete with alcohol lifts out the absolute and leaves the flower's own waxes, which are filtered and refined into floral wax. It carries CAS number 68917-05-5 and melts at 62 to 68 degrees Celsius. Osmanthus is prized for an unusual scent profile, combining ripe apricot and stone-fruit notes with a soft leather and tea character, and the floral wax retains a share of the volatile compounds responsible for it. Because those compounds stay bound in the wax matrix rather than sitting free, the scent emerges slowly and warms out on the skin rather than projecting. As with the other floral waxes it is hard and brittle, used at a few percent as a fragrant structural component rather than as a base. Yields from the extraction stream are small and vary with the autumn harvest, so availability is limited. It is used in natural and fine perfumery, solid perfumes, balms and lip products, luxury candle blends and as a natural fragrance carrier. Bio Green Wax supplies osmanthus floral wax to specification on melting point, acid and saponification value, colour, odour profile and residual solvent.
