Fischer-Tropsch (FT) wax

Category: Industrial Waxes

Fischer‑Tropsch (FT) wax is a high‑purity synthetic paraffin wax produced from syngas, offering high melting point, low viscosity, and excellent hardness for demanding applications in plastics, coatings, inks, adhesives, and bitumen modification

FT wax is generated via the Fischer‑Tropsch synthesis, yielding a water‑white, ultra‑clean wax with a narrow carbon‑chain distribution, very low oil content, and outstanding thermal stability. It combines a high softening point with low melt viscosity and strong hardness, giving superior scratch resistance, gloss control, matting effects, and lubrication in many formulations.

In plastics and PVC/CPVC processing, FT wax acts as an efficient internal and external lubricant and processing aid, reducing melt viscosity, improving flow, and enhancing mold release and dimensional stability. It is widely used in hot‑melt and pressure‑sensitive adhesives, printing inks, and industrial coatings to increase hardness, abrasion and scratch resistance, block resistance, and anti‑settling while stabilizing viscosity. Additional key applications include bitumen and asphalt modification, masterbatch and polymer compounding, rubber processing, polishes, textiles, and even cosmetic formulations, where FT wax delivers controlled crystallinity, improved wear and wrinkle resistance, and a smooth sensory feel.
