Gel Wax - Soft (Container Grade)

Gel Wax - Soft (Container Grade) – Candle & home fragrance product from Bio Green Wax

    About This Product

Soft gel wax is white mineral oil, CAS 8042-47-5, gelled with a styrenic block copolymer, CAS 25034-86-0, at a lower polymer loading than the moulded grades. It is processed at 110 to 120 degrees Celsius with a pour temperature of 85 to 95, and a fragrance load of 3 to 5 percent. Reducing the polymer content lowers viscosity, and that single change is what makes this the container grade. A thinner gel flows into corners, wets the glass completely and, most importantly, lets entrained air rise and escape before the gel sets, which is the difference between a glass-clear candle and one full of trapped bubbles. The resulting gel is soft and slightly tacky and will slump if demoulded, so it is always burned in the vessel it was poured into. The same low viscosity means suspended objects will drift or settle before setting, so embeds need to be fixed to the base rather than floated. Only fragrances tested for gel compatibility should be used, and the vessel must be heat-resistant glass, as gel burns hotter than conventional wax. It is used in container and jar gel candles, aquarium and scene candles, hospitality and event candles and in retail craft kits. Bio Green Wax supplies soft gel wax to specification on polymer content, viscosity, clarity, flash point and fragrance compatibility.
