Jasmine Floral Wax

About This Product
Jasmine floral wax is a by-product of natural perfumery. Jasmine flowers are first solvent-extracted to give a concrete, a semi-solid containing both the aromatic material and the plant's own cuticular waxes. Washing that concrete with alcohol removes the fragrant fraction as the absolute and leaves the waxes behind, and that residue, filtered and refined, is floral wax. It carries CAS number 91770-14-8 and melts at 62 to 68 degrees Celsius. What makes it commercially interesting is that it is not perfumed, it is fragrant. The wax retains a proportion of the flower's own volatile compounds bound within it, so the scent is the genuine botanical profile of jasmine rather than a fragrance oil added to a neutral base, and it releases slowly and gently rather than with the lift of an added top note. It is a hard, brittle wax, so it is used as a component at a few percent rather than as a base, where it contributes both structure and aroma. Because it comes from an absolute production stream, quantity and character vary with the harvest. It is used in natural perfumery and solid perfumes, in balms, creams and lip products, in luxury candle blends, and as a natural fragrance carrier. Bio Green Wax supplies jasmine floral wax to specification on melting point, acid and saponification value, colour, odour profile and residual solvent.
