About This Product
Soy-microcrystalline wax blend is 79.5% partially hydrogenated soybean oil (CAS 8016-70-4) and 20% microcrystalline wax (CAS 63231-60-7), with moisture held to 0.5% or less. It is supplied in blocks, melts at 40–45 °C and is poured at 70 °C (± 5 °C), with a fragrance load of 6–8%. The iodine value is 40–50 g I₂/100 g and the flash point 240 °C. Microcrystalline wax is a petroleum wax with a finer, more branched crystal structure than paraffin. Blended into soy wax, it makes the set wax more flexible and tackier, which is why it is used in container candles: a softer, more pliable wax follows the glass as it cools instead of pulling away from it. The low melting range suits containers rather than free-standing pillars. A fifth of the blend is petroleum-derived, so it cannot be described as natural or plant-based. Brands that need a plant-only wax should choose a straight soy or soy-coconut grade instead. Bio Green Wax supplies this blend in 20 kg cartons or 25 kg bags, with a shelf life of 2 years when stored in a dry, ventilated, cool place. The technical data sheet and safety data sheet are available on this page; each lot is supplied with a certificate of analysis.
